Today, nominations for the 78th Annual Academy Awards were announced but sadly Scarlett Johansson was left without a Best Supporting Actress nomination even though she was originally being heralded as a frontrunner by many critics. However, Match Point received a nomination for Writing (Original Screenplay) so congratulations to everyone involved with the film!

Contact Music reports that Scarlett will be recording the jazz classic Summertime (George & Ira Gershwin) for an album of adult-themed lullabies. She is among celebrities who have recorded standards, with the backing of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, for a new album, Unexpected Dreams: Songs from the Stars. Other participating celebrities include Ewan McGregor, Nia Vardalos and Jennifer Garner.

As you may have noticed, I have been updating the site recently and I figured it was time to make an announcement regarding it. Mel has decided drop her status as the webmaster of Scarlett Johansson Fan so I am in the process of taking over. No need to worry, Mel will still stay on as a co-webmistress, helping me out when she has a free moment.

I am 22-year old film student residing in Scotland. I have been a huge fan of Scarlett’s since her lovely performance in Lost in Translation. Some of you may know me from such sites as Glamour Reese Witherspoon and Eva-Amurri.com. I have big plans for Scarlett Johansson Fan. In the few upcoming weeks I will be updating each section of the site, adding tens of video clips and photos and giving the site a make over.

To celebrate the UK release of Match Point, I uploaded 10 video clips from Saturday Night Live. I know you guys have been eager to see them so head over here and check them out. Scarlett’s a riot!

Unfortunately the Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress In A Supporting Role in a Motion Picture did not go to Scarlett this year. Rachel Weisz got it for her performance in The Constant Gardener. But still, as Scarlett recently said, she was not expecting anything and it is an honour to even be nominated.

Either way, it was great to see her out and about. Scarlett wore a stunning red scoop neck Valentino dress with soft ruffles on the straps and on the back. I added the 14 first HQs to the gallery. She looked red hot in the super sexy dress!
I also added nearly 600 captures from the weekend’s Saturday Night Live. Yeah, I went a tad cap crazy but she was so adorable. Video clips will follow shortly.

As you may remember James Ellroy hasn’t been exactly thrilled with the movie adaptation of his novel ‘The Black Dahlia’. Now, a guy called Jim reports in the 24LiesASecond Forum about his encounter with James Ellroy at the TV Critics Association convention in Los Angeles. Quoting:

“As has been reported elsewhere, he has indeed come around since his earlier disparaging public comments during pre-production of The Black Dahlia. Since then, he has seen three hours of dailies, and has had this to say about what he saw: The dailies were visually amazing and beautiful. He mentioned that a simple shot of a squad room was so well composed, it was like you had never seen a squad room before. The film is a reduced version of his novel, but manages to cohere. It does not have a Citizen Kane-like structure of flashbacks, as has been reported. Josh Hartnett is a “revelation.” His characterization of Bucky is dead on. The film may be finished for a Cannes screening, but it also may not. It will be released in the U.S. in the fall, at which time Ellroy plans to actively take part in its publicity.”
