World Wildlife Fund “Hotter than I Should Be” Auction
9 October, 2007

What do Gisele Bündchen, Orlando Bloom and Scarlett Johansson have in common? Each has signed a World Wildlife Fund “Hotter than I Should Be” t-shirt to be auctioned off on eBay from Oct. 3-12, 2007. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to WWF’s global conservation initiatives including fighting threats like climate change.

Why “Hotter than I Should Be”? Climate change is among the most pervasive threats to the Earth today. We have the power to address its root causes and limit its impact on the planet. Without action, climate change will cause the extinction of countless species and destroy some of the world’s most precious ecosystems, putting millions of people at risk. WWF is a leader in the field of climate science and a persuasive advocate for emissions reductions and increases in the use of energy efficient technologies. You can help us influence behavior and change attitudes… make your bid today!

Paz Vega Added to the Cast of The Spirit
8 October, 2007

Paz Vega has also joined the cast of Will Eisner’s The Spirit. She will play the knife-wielding Plaster of Paris.

Principal photography began today in New Mexico. Lionsgate is working with Odd Lot Entertainment to get the film canned in time for release on January 16th, 2009. The production got just enough start to likely avoid the oncoming strike.

Jaime King Joins The Spirit
7 October, 2007

Sin City‘s Jaime King has joined the cast of The Spirit. She will be portraying the hypnotizing Lorelei Rox. The character had her first and only appearance in the September 19th, 1948 issue. Her character story arch, while short, was one of the most memorable. She is described as a modern-day siren with a voice that could kill.

Production will begin this month in Albuquerque Studios in New Mexico and is set for release on January 16, 2009.

Scarlett is #3 Celebrity Cover Star!
4 October, 2007

Scarlett Johansson is the #3 top cover star, according to Forbes‘ first-ever analysis of the top-selling celebrity faces. Only Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt’s pictures on the covers of magazines cause a greater increase in sales than Scarlett! Here’s the top 10:

1) Jennifer Aniston
2) Brad Pitt
3) Scarlett Johansson
4) Angelina Jolie
5) Reese Witherspoon
6) Katie Holmes
7) Carrie Underwood
8) Jennifer Hudson [tie]
8) Valerie Bertinelli [tie]
10) Kelly Ripa

We looked at the newsstand sales of the six leading celebrity weeklies – People, Star, US Weekly, In Touch Weekly, Life & Style and OK! –over a six-month period ending June 30, as supplied by the Audit Bureau of Circulations. We eliminated all non-celebrity and collage covers as well as special issues with exceptionally large rate bases. Then we counted how many more–or less–issues the celebrity’s cover sold, as compared with the magazine’s average newsstand sales. Next, we factored in the number of full covers a celebrity graced. Finally, we ranked his or her consumer appeal using data from Encino, Calif.-based polling firm E-Poll Market Research to rule out flukes.

Here is what they said about Miss Johansson:

When it comes to fans, Johansson is hardly lacking. The Nanny Diaries star ranks sixth in likability, with an E-Poll score of 28. Perhaps the tabloids should show her some of the same. After all, when ScarJo graced the Jan. 22 cover of US Weekly, newsstand sales shot up 7%.
