I think it’s an inescapable (albeit regrettable) fact that there are a whole many people who live on malicious celebrity news and gossip. They feed on the misfortunes of others and better their own self-image by posting bashful comments on their favorite hated celebrities. Go to any celebrity gossip blog, and you’ll find hoards of these people slapping big celebrity names in the face with derogatory comments, cheerfully gleeing when someone is having a bad day. Ergo, these people also inevitably constitute a large part of the audience of shows such as ET, which is why they turn every mishap and tragedy into a media circus.

That said, I, personally, don’t think it should be condoned. Reporting on Jennifer Love Hewitt growing a bit of healthy flesh on her bones is one thing, however posting post-humously a scandalous video, which is a complete misrepresentation of the situation at hand, is wholly another. The Heath Ledger drug vid is a prime example of tabloid culture at its very worst; a tragedy is commercially exploited for the sickening pleasure of others, and there is no one who can validly discredit the source material until the damage is already done – because the one person who could do so has passed away.

Thus I, personally, applaud Scarlett, Natalie and all the other celebrities involved who took a firm stand in this issue in the interest of respecting Heath and his family’s tragic loss.

I personally think videos like this are not the public’s business at all. The guy is dead, just let him rest in peace and not distort his image even more. He is not entertainment, he was a real person who has a real daughter… Who will never truly know her father.

I think there is a time and place for everything, and while I personally do not want to see it, I know there is an outlet and fans / people who do. RIGHT NOW, just after his passing is an awful time and so disrespectful to his beloved family…. especially considering the autopsy info hasn’t been published and we don’t know a real *cause*!
