You can view a making of video of the Hitchcock inspired photoshoot featured in the March issue of Vanity Fair. As mentioned before, Scarlett is one of the many celebrities included. While Barack Obama barnstorms the country trying to drum up votes in advance of Super Tuesday, a wildly diverse cross section of musical supporters, including the Black Eyed Peas’ Will.I.Am, OK Go and former members of the Grateful Dead, are lending a hand.
One of the biggest Obama-boosting efforts comes courtesy of Will.I.Am, who recently teamed with director Jesse Dylan (son of Bob Dylan) to release a music video called “Yes We Can.” The Bob Marley-like anthem turns the Illinois senator’s January 8 New Hampshire primary-night address into lyrics performed by Will, as well as almost 40 other actors, celebrities and athletes, including John Legend, Kate Walsh, Aisha Tyler, Amber Valletta, Taryn Manning, Nicole Scherzinger, Common, Scarlett Johansson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Herbie Hancock and Nick Cannon.
The student groups U-DFL and Students for Obama brought U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn., actress Scarlett Johansson and actor actor Kal Penn to the Coffman theater Monday night.
Following caucus training, Ellison spoke with students about civic engagement and encouraging them all to caucus tonight.
“Don’t look for a hero to come in and fix it for you,” he said. “The tuition fight is a great place to start,” Ellison said.
The actors both volunteer for the Barack Obama campaign and spoke on his behalf.
“This is a time when our vote counts,” Johansson said.
Minnesotans will play a role in this year’s historic Super Tuesday. And the effort to get voters to the caucuses, especially young voters, is underway.
Driving voters to the caucuses isn’t easy, but high above Interstate 394, Ben Friesen was doing his best Monday afternoon. While standing on a pedestrian bridge, Friesen held an Obama sign. Many honked as they drove by.
“Tomorrow’s a huge day,” Friesen said. “If Obama has a good night, it’s gonna be important.”
On Super Tuesday Eve, the get-out-the-vote effort was on. And more than ever, campaigns are focusing on young voters.
Young voters in Minnesota broke records four years ago when the state led the nation in young voter turnout.
Two young celebrities, Scarlett Johansson and Kal Penn spoke to an auditorium of students at the University of Minnesota Monday night. They both support Obama, but above all, they wanted to get students politically active.
“I just want to let you guys know how incredible it is you all turned out here,” Johansson said. “What an important impact the youth vote has made so far.”
Scarlett will be featured in the annual Vanity Fair Hollywood issue, which features Amy Adams, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Jessica Biel on the front cover. In the pictorial Scarlett will be one of the stars who re-create Hitchcock classics. The magazine will be on stands nationwide February 12. We will have scans of the issue as soon as it will be released.
Ireland is on the brink of a victory that would have made Mary Queen of Scots proud — by beating Britain in a battle for a new Hollywood blockbuster.
The €20m Mary Queen of Scots film, starring Scarlett Johansson (22) in the lead role, could be the first major movie success to be shot here since King Arthur five years ago.
The ailing Irish film industry got a serious boost recently when Showtime’s high rating prime-time drama The Tudors, starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers, was located here.
Ardmore Studios has already been overrun by 16th Century troops in pantaloons wielding crossbows and will not need too much help to adapt to a new influx.
It is understood that the co-producer of the The Wind that Shakes the Barley, Element Pictures, is in high level talks about the film locating in Ireland.
Picturesque Birr Castle in Offaly is rumoured to be one of the potential locations for the 16th Century drama.
