“In My Name” Video

In an effort to raise its socially conscious voice to the already loud socially active part of its environment, YouTube has launched a campaign with the lofty “Millennium Development Goal” of “cutting global poverty in half by 2015.”

The campaign, “In my name,” unites the online destination with Global Call to Action Against Poverty, Oxfam International, Save the Children and Comic Relief to help spread the message that poverty around the world needs to be eliminated.

To get out the word, YouTube last week unveiled a dedicated micro-site, YouTube.com/inmyname, where visitors can upload videos stating their name, home country and a message to their government about the need to meet the poverty goals. Among the celebs who already have put videos on the site are Mischa Barton, Ellie McPherson, Kristin Davis, Annie Lennox, Scarlett Johansson, John Legend, Wyclef Jean and Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas.

Playing Catch Up
7 October, 2008

I have been playing catch up with the gallery these past few days, adding new The Spirit posters (none of Scarlett, unfortunately), movie stills, photoshoot and event pictures and scanning magazines. I still have a couple of things to add before my ‘pending’ Scarlett folder is empty. Please register/log in and click here to take full advantage of the gallery. I wish to say special thanks to all of our contributors for their valuable help.

Also, I wanted to take a moment to promote my new site for Australian actress Teresa Palmer. She is known from her work in December Boys, 2:37 and Restraint, among others. Teresa also stars in the upcoming Bedtime Stories. Hop on over to www.teresapalmerfan.com to learn more about this rising star!

CosmoGirl – November 2008
7 October, 2008

Miss Scarlett looks adorable on the cover of the November 2008 issue of CosmoGirl. Thanks to my friend Mycah for the heads up! We will have scans of the magazine soon.

On what it’s like talking to college students about the election during the primaries:
It was amazing that these kids are just so well-informed and so interested. There were really obscure questions and debates that they wanted to lead — I couldn’t believe it! And it was amazing how many of these kids turned out. We made the environment friendly. I’m 23, and all of these kids are probably between 16 to 24. They’re my peers, so we can all talk on the same wavelength. We’re all connected by the same issues.

On celebrity endorsements during presidential elections:
In this day and age, the media has this 24-hour news cycle that they need to fulfill their obligation to. And it seems like celebrities are a huge part of that, so it just seems unavoidable. It’s important to bring to light certain issues. If this spotlight is already shining on me and I feel like there’s a worthwhile cause, then why not direct it toward that? I hope that my [involvement] encourages the youth population to go out and inform themselves.
