Scarlett talks about Iron Man 2 and A View From The Bridge.
‘I feel lucky I’ve been able to jump from genre to genre. It would be unsatisfying doing the same thing again and again and I’m lucky to be able to transform myself in different ways. And it’s been unbelievable to be part of this thing. It’s been a huge experience for me,’ Johansson said in an-email interview.
After her recent release ‘Iron Man 2′, the 25-year-old is happy playing Catherine Carbone in ‘A View From The Bridge’.
‘I never thought I’d be following up ‘Iron Man’ with a little Arthur Miller, but I’ve always kind of worked where the spirit has moved me,’ she said.
In director Jon Favreau’s ‘Iron Man 2′, Johansson plays Natalie Rushman, a demure assistant who hides a shocking secret and later reveals herself as The Black Widow.
‘The incredible thing about Jon is though the movie was big, it never felt like there was a huge pressure to satisfy the budget. He just loves working with actors and I think actors often make incredible directors because they have a certain kind of insight into what goes into building a performance.
‘He is a very reassuring, very calm presence. He’s unique. I’ve never worked with anyone like that before,’ she said.
‘Iron Man 2′, based on the Marvel Comic character of the same name, is sequel to ‘Iron Man’ and has Robert Downey Jr. in the title role.
Produced By Kevin Feige, Avi Arad and Susan Downey and distributed by Paramount Pictures, ‘Iron Man 2′ also stars Gwyneth Paltrow and Don Cheadle. The movie released Friday.
Talking about her action scenes in the film, Johansson said: ‘The physical stuff just took a lot of time and I didn’t really have any.’
‘I was cast like a month before we started shooting and I went from being a person who hiked occasionally and who wasn’t really that physically active to suddenly spending four hours in stunt training and two hours in the gym and trying to build all this strength in such a short period of time. It was painful, but it was worth it in the end,’ she added.
Johansson started her acting career as a child artist in the 1994 fantasy comedy ‘North’. After doing minor roles in movies like ‘Fall’ and ‘Home Alone 3′, she proved her mantle by playing the character of Charlotte in ‘Lost In Transition’, for which she was even named best actress at the 2004 British Academy Of Film And Television Arts Awards (BAFTA).
