Scarlett Johansson Is Nobody’s Baby
Mother, chanteuse, computer operating system, bombshell alien… ?no matter the role, Scarlett Johansson is her own woman.

“When she came out of me, I was so surprised,” Scarlett Johansson told me on a cold day in December. We were at the photo shoot for this story, and Johansson, who had given birth to her daughter, Rose, just three months earlier, was wearing tight jeans and an equally snug white sweater. Her short, almost platinum hair, which would soon be covered by a Debbie Harry circa-Blondie shag wig, was slicked back. “I had a very strong picture in my mind of what my baby would look like,” Johansson continued. “And, of course, she is completely different. Perfect, but not what I’d imagined. Now, of course, I can’t picture her any other way.” Johansson smiled. As always—and I have been interviewing her regularly since her breakthrough role in 2003’s Lost in Translation—she was at once forthcoming and guarded. Johansson, who just turned 30, has been acting professionally since she was 7 and is entirely comfortable in the spotlight. (“Everyone has seen my breasts!” she said when an assistant offered her a private changing room. “I can change my top right here.”) And then, when it truly matters, she can be remarkably discreet. It was months before the public caught wind of her marriage to the French journalist Romain Dauriac.

She’s dealt with constant criticism over the years about her body, and now Scarlett Johansson is ready to reveal her true thoughts on the matter in the Spring 2014 issue of Dazed & Confused magazine. The “We Bought a Zoo” beauty donned designer duds from Carl Manzi and Saint Laurent for the Benjamin Alexander Huseby-shot front page while opening up about her famous “womanly” curves.

“How could I wake up every day and be a normal person if I was completely aware that my was being manipulated on a global platform?” Scarlett questioned. “How could I sleep?”

She continued, “You have to have a peace of mind. You’ve got to be able to protect those things. How else could you exist? You’d go crazy, anybody would go crazy…” In regards to whose body she would love to take over for a day, Miss Johansson stated, “Beyoncé – so I could finally get those moves right.”

SodaStream has named Scarlett Johansson as its first celebrity ambassador but will that be enough to get SodaStream pop up again soon? Her voice made Joaquin Phoenix’s character fall in love with her in the movie “Her” and Esquire magazine fell in love with everything else about her. Now 28 year-old Hollywood superstar Scarlett Johansson is being cast in Super Bowl ads for SodaStream.
The home soda maker is hoping that Johansson, as their first-ever “celebrity ambassador”, will drive up sales significantly. That’s something they very much need at the moment. On Monday, the company lowered its fiscal 2013 guidance after holiday sales came in lower than expected. That’s sent shares down 25% shortly after the announcement.

Scarlett Johansson rocks a sheer floral dress on the cover of Marie Claire‘s May 2013 issue, on newsstands April 16.

Here is what the 28-year-old Don Jon actress had to share with the mag:

On her divorce from Ryan Reynolds in 2010: “Well, it wasn’t that long ago. But I think I’ve had a fair amount of time to process the experience and be able to move forward. I continue to get to know myself better as I get older, and that helps me in my relationships.”

On how she spends her downtime: “I’ve been obsessed with RuPaul’s Drag Race. I love the makeup, I love the hair, I love the looks. That’s been my escape.”

On social media: “All of it drives me crazy. I don’t understand this need to ‘share.’ We almost exploit ourselves in order to feel seen.”

On something a man can’t do around her: “I don’t like jealous behavior. I don’t mind an occasional check-in, but when somebody is passive-aggressively jealous, it’s really unattractive because it shows a sort of insecurity that is…Oh, controlling behavior is awful. Nobody’s going to say they love that.”
