Scarlett is featured on the cover of several Scandinavian magazines this month, including Sweden’s edition of Glamour magazine. They have re-used the Vogue photoshoot, which is always a pleasure to look at. Thanks to Maria of Penelope Fan, we now have scans of it.
• Scarlett Johansson by Brandon Hurst (Artnik)
I first wrote about this unofficial biography about a year ago. It looks like it has finally been published after some delay. Check out Amazon.co.uk to order your copy.
• Scarlett Johansson: Portrait of a Rising Star by Chris Roberts (Carlton Books)
This biography, also unofficial, will be released September 3, 2007 and is available for pre-order at Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk. Check out the pretty cover on the right. Here is its description:
Born in 1985 in New York, young Scarlett Marie Johansson has already achieved a cinematic career of stellar proportion, swiftly becoming an icon to both genders. Ubiquitous as the face of Calvin Klein, L’Oreal and Reebok, and described as the new Marilyn Monroe by Vogue magazine, she’s also proved her mettle as a quality thespian, starring in movies as diverse as literary, intelligent Woody Allen features, gung-ho action romps like Michael Bay’s The Island, and of course, alternative, hip fare like the film which made her name known the world over, Sofia Coppola’s much-lauded Lost in Translation. Searching for the essence of her luminous star quality, this book takes a critical look at her work, and traces her transformation from talented child actress to Hollywood icon.
For her sequel as the face of another Louis Vuitton campaign [third time, actually], Scarlett Johansson played a role with which she’s extremely familiar: movie star. Evoking at turns Marilyn Monroe and Grace Kelly, Johansson displays voluptuous glamour in the color-drenched fall spots, slated to break in August fashion magazines.
“In this one, she’s much more recognizable,” said Antoine Arnault, Vuitton’s communications director, who allowed that the actress is not always immediately identifiable in the current spring ads in her role as the French-coquette-on-a-swing.
Nevertheless, Arnault dubbed the current campaign a success. He noted that Vuitton creative director Marc Jacobs “adores” Johansson and based his fall-winter collection for the house around her character in Girl With a Pearl Earring, the 2003 feature film about a peasant girl who becomes the model for 17th-century Dutch artist Johannes Vermeer’s most famous work.
The fall campaign, lensed by Vuitton regulars Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, plays up the painterly colors of the ready-to-wear. “It’s probably one of the most beautiful campaigns Mert and Marcus have ever shot,” Arnault said. “It’s a very iconic campaign.”
For those who are interested, Scarlett Johansson has been placed #3 on Maxim‘s 8th annual Hot 100 list and FHM‘s the Sexiest Women of 2007 poll. Maxim listed her as #6 while FHM #1 back in 2006. Besides Scarlett, Maxim‘s top ten includes Lindsay Lohan, Jessica Alba, Christina Aguilera, Jessica Biel, Ali Larter, Eva Mendez, Rihanna, Eva Longoria and Fergie. Here’s what they had to say about our girl:
This 22-year-old face of Louis Vuitton has chalked up several memorable moments on film: the time she appeared in sheer pink panties (Lost in Translation), the time she went ape-shit and got herself shotgunned to death (Match Point), the time she… Well, we could go on, but the point is this: With a face and body as celebrated as her body of work, it only seems fair to put her on a pedestal once again.
Scarlett Johansson is featured in People‘s Most Beautiful issue of 2007. She’s now been featured in the list three times in a row, for years 2007, 2006 and 2005.
“My hair is such a disaster. I never blow-dry. I can’t do my hair at all. It?s just a burden,” admits the star of The Nanny Diaries. But the 22-year-old does like one specific part of her anatomy: “I think I have really good feet. They’re cute!”
I re-installed the Video Archive so it is back up and properly working again. All of the file information is gone and it will definitely take time before I get it all up again because it means totally starting from scratch… But atleast you can now view all of the 146 videos. All user accounts are also gone so please re-register. Sorry for the inconvenience!
For all of those who have been asking, the Gallery, Video Archive and Forum are not connected so you need separate accounts for each.
Last but not least, I’ve added two promos for tomorrow’s Saturday Night Live. Don’t forget to tune in for Scarlett’s episode at 11.30/10.30 C on NBC. It is a brand new episode and not a rerun from 2006 and it should be fun!
The results are in and with Scarlett Johansson topping the list of best celebrity bodies, it’s clear that Glamour readers think curves are back. Other stars in the top ten included Jessica Alba, Gisele Bundchen and Jennifer Aniston. Check out the May issue of the UK’s Glamour with Ms. Johansson on the cover to see who else made it into the top 30.
Expect scans up on the site this weekend when I get back home.
According to AOL’s TV schedule, Scarlett Johansson is set to host Saturday Night Live on April 21, 2007. This will be Scarlett’s second time hosting the show. Björk will be appearing as the musical guest. Expect full coverage with video clips and captures after the show airs! Very exciting!!!
Scarlett graces the front cover of the May 2007 issue of Seventeen magazine with a new photo spread and a fun Q&A interview inside. Temporary scans have been added to the gallery. Enjoy!
