Film Page & Press Updates
9 March, 2008

I got to see The Other Boleyn Girl yesterday so I updated the film page with additional details and some of my thoughts regarding Scarlett Johansson’s performance, which I greatly enjoyed. I updated all of the recent filmography with new and up-to-date info. The press section has also been updated with a couple of new items, most notable being The Sydney Morning Herald article.

“It’s exciting as an artist and as a creative person to have many outlets and avenues to express yourself,” she says. “I’ve always loved to sing and I try not to pigeonhole myself as actor extraordinaire – it’s nice to be able to work with some other incredibly talented people and compile a project that’s greater then everyone involved. It’s fun. There are so many aspects of film, music and art that make that possible.”

I would also like to thank Bernard and Jeraire for their generous donations. We’re getting close to obtaining something very special for the site, which I am excited about! I will keep you all posted on how it goes. Meanwhile, if you can spare anything, please consider making a contribution.

30 Under 30: The Actresses
3 March, 2008

Congratulations to Miss Scarlett for coming in at #1 on Entertainment Weekly’s “30 Under 30: The Actresses” list.

SCARLETT JOHANSSON

AGE 24

BROKE OUT IN… Lost in Translation as Charlotte, a lonely newlywed drifting through her quarter-life crisis in Tokyo.

WHY HER Her classically elegant beauty combined with her no-way-she’s-how-old? sophisticated demeanor allows the New Yorker to blend in to everything from period pieces to modern-day romantic comedies. Plus, we already know Woody Allen adores her.

WHAT’S NEXT She’ll follow up The Other Boleyn Girl with August’s He’s Just Not That Into You (yup, based on the book) co-starring Jennifer Aniston and Ben Affleck. In 2009, she’ll appear opposite Penelope Cruz in Woody Allen’s Vicky Cristina Barcelona and in The Spirit, based on the classic Will Eisner comic.

New Article & Press Shots
21 February, 2008

A quick update for today. The Telegraph published a great new interview with Scarlett regarding her album. You can read it here. Check out this funny quote:

“I first realised I was a sexual being listening to David Bowie, like, oh my God, what are these tingling feelings?”, she giggles self-consciously, then adds, “I mean, when I was young” to quell speculation about late-night studio sessions.

I’ve added many new shots to the The Other Boleyn Girl press conference album. Big thanks to nolarice for some of these!

Scarlett and Nat’s Royal Do
20 February, 2008

The Prince of Wales attended a “double” royal premiere tonight, as he met the stars of a new film featuring one of his ancestors.

Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall met the actors from The Other Boleyn Girl at a screening at the Odeon cinema in London’s Leicester Square.

Natalie Portman, who stars with Scarlett Johansson as sisters Anne and Mary Boleyn battling to win the affections of Henry VIII, said she was very excited to meet the prince.

“It must be so strange to see a film version of your family,” she said.

USA Today & ComingSoon.net Interviews
20 February, 2008

The press archive has been updated with three new articles, two from USA Today and the third from ComingSoon.net. Like the recently added Cinema Blend interview, the ComingSoon.net one is also from the Boleyn press conference so it contains some comments you may have read before. There’s also some additional quotes that were not published by Cinema Blend, such as Scarlett and Natalie discussing The Horse Whisperer. A very interesting read! In these articles Scarlett also confirms that Mary Queen of Scots will be her next movie.

Here’s an interesting quote from Scarlett regarding her upcoming album. Speaking of, I’ve updated the music page with additional info on “Anywhere I Lay My Head”.

Johansson, meanwhile, has an album of Tom Waits covers out in May. With her distinctive husky voice, Johansson relished getting into the studio and isn’t worried whether the album tops the charts.

“How it does is ineffective for me. You can’t reverse the process,” Johansson says. “The people I care about are very excited about it. Who knows? I don’t have any kind of expectation. I love to sing.”

Last but not least, I’ve added a beautiful pic of Scarlett and Natalie. This came along the USA Today article and it was taken at the press conference.

Cinema Blend Scarlett & Natalie Interview
18 February, 2008

Check out a new interview with Scarlett and Natalie Portman, courtsesy of Cinema Blend.

“I found strengths in every character that I’ve played. Even if it is a vulnerable person or someone who’s easily manipulated, there are strengths to every personality. Even if I wasn’t looking for a girl power kind of role, maintaining integrity in a character is a positive thing for women to see. It’s inspiring for women of all ages.”

Scarlett Johansson Denies Engagement Rumors
12 February, 2008

The internet has once again been buzzing of Scarlett’s possible ‘engagement’ to Ryan Reynolds as she was spotted looking at wedding dresses in Los Angeles. However, it is just gossip and Scarlett is not engaged, says her rep. Here’s a report from Newswatch:

Actress Scarlett Johansson has dismissed reports she’s engaged to marry her boyfriend Ryan Reynolds.

The Lost In Translation star, who has been dating actor Reynolds for nearly a year, was spotted looking at wedding dresses in Los Angeles, fuelling speculation she is planning to wed.

However, it’s Johansson’s relative who is preparing to walk down the aisle, and not the actress.

Johansson’s representative says, “A family member is getting married, not her. She is not engaged.”

Will.I.Am Gathers Common, Johansson for Obama Video
5 February, 2008

While Barack Obama barnstorms the country trying to drum up votes in advance of Super Tuesday, a wildly diverse cross section of musical supporters, including the Black Eyed Peas’ Will.I.Am, OK Go and former members of the Grateful Dead, are lending a hand.

One of the biggest Obama-boosting efforts comes courtesy of Will.I.Am, who recently teamed with director Jesse Dylan (son of Bob Dylan) to release a music video called “Yes We Can.” The Bob Marley-like anthem turns the Illinois senator’s January 8 New Hampshire primary-night address into lyrics performed by Will, as well as almost 40 other actors, celebrities and athletes, including John Legend, Kate Walsh, Aisha Tyler, Amber Valletta, Taryn Manning, Nicole Scherzinger, Common, Scarlett Johansson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Herbie Hancock and Nick Cannon.
