Wallis Charity Charm Necklace
29 August, 2007

Following the overwhelming success of the 2005 celebrity charm bracelet in aid of Cancer Research UK, Wallis is delighted to launch the stunning 2007 version, a long silver rope charm necklace, decorated with six unique charms each designed by a well-know celebrity or designer.

Designers were asked to take inspiration from whatever they liked, or from what they are best known for. They then had to sketch their charm, choose the colour and material and give it a name.

Well-known designers of the charms include Scarlett Johansson, who designed a delicate lily in white, yellow and orange enamel, because ‘I’ve always loved enamel jewellery and I was looking at a lily when approached about the project.’ Scarlett agreed to take part because she believes that ‘in today’s world, cancer affects everyone, whether it’s your own personal crisis or that of someone you know.’ She adds, ‘any opportunity to support cancer research brings us closer to a cure.’

Scarlett Commits to Helping End Poverty
27 February, 2007

Actor Scarlett Johansson has joined international agency Oxfam (www.oxfamamerica.org) in the fight against poverty following a life-changing trip to India and Sri Lanka. During her ten-day visit, Scarlett learned how investing in education and basic health-care are vital to saving lives and lifting millions of poor children and families out of poverty. She also met Indian women who’ve survived domestic violence and Tsunami survivors in Sri Lanka.

Scarlett, who has been a long-time supporter of Oxfam, was moved by the organization’s response to saving and rebuilding lives following the 2004 Tsunami. She travelled with the international development organization to better understand the complex issues facing poor communities and how support and funding from the US and other rich nations can help end poverty.

She began her trip spending a day with young girls at an Oxfam-funded school in rural Uttar Pradesh, India that has enabled over a thousand poor children from the lowest Dalit caste to gain a basic education. In Delhi she met with survivors of domestic violence who are part of Oxfam’s “We Can” campaign. Over 800,00 people have joined the campaign to overcome domestic violence which affects millions of women across South Asia.

Scarlett’s Work with Oxfam
22 February, 2007

Actor Scarlett Johansson is currently in India with international development agency Oxfam visiting its programmes with poor communities, the organization said today. Scarlett has met with children in the slums and at schools in Delhi and learned about the need for basic education, healthcare and about the issues of violence against women.

Scarlett has traveled with Oxfam to learn more about its campaigning work with poor people, how local communities in India are campaigning for change and how Western governments must be more responsive to the needs of developing countries.

Currently 100 million children are out of school worldwide; the majority of those are girls, and thousands die each day from preventable diseases. In India, 40 percent of girls and 25 percent of boys will never complete a basic education.

Scarlett in India
22 February, 2007

She is the sexiest and the most desirable woman on Earth. Her acting in Lost In Translation and Girl With A Pearl Earring got her Golden Globe nominations in 2003. We are talking about Scarlett Johansson and she is currently in India.

The New York-based actress is visiting India for a charitable cause that she and her publicist are not ready to disclose just now. “We are here for a purpose and not publicity. That’s exactly what we are going to concentrate on,” says Marcel, Scarlett’s publicist.

Scarlett arrived in Delhi on Monday and has fallen in love with the weather of the city. “Yes, she is loving the weather. Coming from New York, anyone would love this weather,” says Marcel.

During her first day in India, Scarlett did not move around the town much. But she was seen in the lobby of The Park Hotel, where she is currently staying. She was recognised and this created a buzz among the staff members of the hotel, who, however, have been told not to talk about her.

Donation to Miami Children’s Hospital
21 February, 2007

Scarlett Johansson, who recently won the Super Bowl promotion, “Find Your Fortune at Flamingo,” co-sponsored by Flamingo South Beach condominiums and Fortune International, announced today that she will donate the one-year lease on the three-bedroom condominium to Miami Children’s Hospital (MCH). The donated unit will be used by the hospital for families of out-of-town patients as a peaceful respite during their child’s treatments.

Upon hearing the news of Ms. Johansson’s generosity, Flamingo developer Michael Lerner of Chicago-based MCZ/Centrum, enhanced the donation by exchanging her three-bedroom lease for leases on three, one-bedroom units so that more families could benefit from the partnership.

“Our patients and their families will certainly benefit from having these lovely homes away from home while they are in town and under our care,” said Cynthia Gutierrez-White, spokesperson for Miami Children’s Hospital.

“We were delighted when Ms. Johansson held the magic key to win the ultimate Super Bowl prize,” said MCZ/Centrum developer Michael Lerner. “And we were even more impressed when she suggested donating her Flamingo condo to Miami Children’s Hospital. We are committed to giving back to communities in which we do business.”

Johansson to Donate Super Bowl Pad to Charity
7 February, 2007

Scarlett Johansson went to Miami this past weekend for the Super Bowl celebrations and ended up winning a one-year lease on a $2.2 million condo in South Beach. So what does a 22-year-old blonde starlet do with a pad on the beach? According to her representative, “She won the lease, (but) we made a decision that day to donate it to a children’s organization. Possibly Miami Children’s Hospital, so visiting parents have a nice place to stay.”
