For the a new remake of Frankenstein, they want Bride Zilla to be played by someone “along the lines of Scarlett Johansson”. The role was originally played by Elsa Lanchester. What do you guys think? Is this a role you’d like to see Scarlett play?

“The Bride of Frankenstein will be young this time. They’re looking for a person with great power and sex appeal. Someone along the lines of Scarlett Johansson or Anne Hathaway.”
The wild-haired bride was originally played by English actress Elsa Lanchester.
The film follows on from ‘Frankenstein’ – which sees Dr. Frankenstein bring a ‘human’ to life from separate body parts – and sees the doctor create a partner for the monster.

A few news sources have reported today that Scarlett will be taking part in a four part ITV series hosted by Fearne Cotton titled Ferne and…

Presenter Fearne Cotton is to shadow four famous women, including Scarlett Johansson and Paris Hilton, for a new ITV2 series in which she will attempt to find out what makes them tick.

The four part series, Fearne and…, which will also feature Alesha Dixon and Peaches Geldof, will see Cotton follow the stars at work and play through their daily lives as well as meeting their friends and families.

Not sure how I feel about this. If it’s done well (more like a documentary), I will probably watch it. What do you all think?

The play is still in previews at Broadway’s Walter Kerr Theatre, but writer Dan Gordon is already eyeing a film version of Irena’s Vow, and he’s got a particular star in mind: Scarlett Johansson. Gordon, author of the screenplays for movies such as Passenger 57, Wyatt Earp and The Hurricane, told The New York Times that initial overtures have been made to Johansson to play World War II heroine Irena Gut Opdyke in an independent feature film version that he plans to adapt and direct himself this fall.

Tovah Feldshuh is playing Irena on Broadway in a performance in which she shifts from an old woman narrating her own story to flashback scenes as an 18-year-old Polish Catholic teenager. During the German occupation of Poland, Irena was forced to work as head housekeeper for a prominent Nazi major. During her two years of service, she risked her life in order to save the lives of 12 Jewish refugees whom she secretly took under her care.

Some more Ironman 2 gossip from DeadlineHollywoodDaily.com:

I’ve already posted my scoop that Mickey Rourke will play the Russian villain in Iron Man 2 in a Marvel Studios deal that started out lowball and went up a lot. Now I’m told that Emily Blunt won’t be in the sequel and Black Widow will now be played by Scarlett Johannson. (Interesting because Scarlett actually screen-tested for the role and didn’t get it.) But I hear that, unlike Mickey’s money, the deal for her is “just the opposite, a terrible deal made by CAA,” one of my insiders says. “It’s as bad as any deal that I’ve heard. It’s lowball money. And it ties her to countless movies, including that ensemble The Avengers, which is what makes this brutal for a lot of actors.” As for Blunt, I’m told she fell out not by choice but only because Fox exercised an option that the studio had from The Devil Wears Prada to make her do the upcoming film starring Jack Black, Gullivers Travels.

Scarlett Johansson has said she would love to star in an action movie full of stunts.

The 24-year-old actress – who has had some action scenes in The Island and The Spirit – is tipped for the lead roll in new movie The Amazon Warrior, set in 200 BC.

Scarlett told the Daily Telegraph: “I think I’m supposed to be a gladiatrix. These film guys are crazy about gladiatrixes. But do I fit into the Amazon mould? I’m a Danish/Jewish girl from New York. I’ve done weapons training. I’ve fired all kinds of guns: 9mm semi-automatics, machine guns, shotguns. I’ve jumped off a 60ft building. I learnt to ride for The Horse Whisperer. But I’ve never done a full-on action role.

“I guess I’m still waiting for my Cirque du Soleil moment. It would be fun.”

Entertainment Weekly is reporting the rumor that Scarlett Johansson is in discussions with Marvel Studios to replace Emily Blunt for the role of Russian superspy Natasha Romanoff, who doubles as Black Widow, in Iron Man 2.

Blunt’s commitment to 20th Century Fox and the studio’s upcoming Gulliver’s Travels may prohibit her from co-starring in the superhero sequel.

Marvel will not confirm, but sources tell EW that Johansson has indeed met with the filmmakers and is interested in taking the role. Blunt’s reps are still trying to make both projects work, but “Gulliver’s” is further along, with a start date of April 15. Iron Man 2 still doesn’t have a shooting script and a start date has not yet been determined.

Hopefully we will find out from an official source soon if this is indeed true. Scarlett film rumors are a mile a minute but fans probably know she doesn’t have anything (filming wise) on her plate at the moment.

MTV News caught up with Johansson at the junket for He’s Just Not That Into You and asked her about the Astro Boy rumors.

“I had kind of sort of met on it and stuff, but I don’t know where that came from,” Johansson told MTV. “I had never been committed to it. I don’t know what happened to it.”

The film, based on the manga by Osamu Tezuka, tells the story of boy robot built to replace a scientist’s lost son. Even without Johansson, the project continues to boast some impressive voice talent, including Freddie Highmore as Astro Boy, Nicolas Cage as his creator, Dr. Tenma, as well as Nathan Lane, Bill Night, Eugene Levy and Kristen Bell.

With Johansson out and the studio’s financial woes made public, it remains to be seen if anyone will be replacing her in the role, much less someone of her star power, although her role, which was never specifically announced, may already have been filled by Bell (whose role is also, so far, unspecified).

While it’s not at all uncommon for Hollywood deals to fall through, the confirmation of this one does come at a time that leads to some speculation about the films’ future. Here’s hoping that Imagi will have Astro Boy on-track soon or, better yet, that they’ll confirm that it was never off-track in the first place.

MTV kind of found some news by accident when the Movie Blog’s Shawn Adler recently spoke to Sir Michael Caine, and the veteran actor told them he might be appearing in an adventure film with Scarlett Johansson. That film is actually a heist thriller called Brilliant, being produced by Relativity Media.

Michael Caine is without a doubt an international treasure, an actor in possession of a great and nearly endless talent. Bless him, the same cannot be said of his memory, which goes from spotty, to just plain wrong.

We’re going to give him the benefit of the doubt here (unlike with Batman 3 stuff. Did we mention that was wrong?) and assume this next bit of news is in the former camp, something that’s true even if he can’t recall the details.

Why? Mostly because it’s a doozy.

“I have ‘Harry Brown,’” the actor said of his elderly vigilante film. “Then I’ll probably do a film with Scarlett Johansson. I forget what it’s called. It’s an adventure film. I was told yesterday that they have Matthew McConaughey as the guy. I’ve got go home and read it again. It’s a heist adventure film.”

There you go. Breaking news that Scarlett Johansson and Matthew McConaughey are joining forces for what will likely become the most misspelled call sheet in history. (I always have to copy and paste both actors’ names from their imdb. This movie is one David Stathairn away from me never writing about it again, ever.)

You may be interested in knowing that Amazon writer Dirk Blackman operates a blog and he has mentioned the Scarlett movie a couple of times already. Here’s one interesting write up:

We seem to tackle subjects like that – we wrote a script about Amazons for Scarlett Johansson. Before they read it, everyone heard about it and thought – “Amazons… girls in skimpy outfits playing at swords. Sounds dumb.” But we played it straight and wrote something along the lines of Seven Samurai. Changed a lot of minds. In fact, Lion’s Gate just picked up the script and are moving forward on it aggressively.
