Writer/director Frank Miller and producer Deborah Del Prete are joined by film stars Gabriel Macht, Samuel L. Jackson, and Eva Mendes in unveiling an exclusive preview of the new film based on the classic comic by Will Eisner.

And, if you visit the link and hover over each of the posters, you can hear the girls utter their respective taglines – including Miss Scarlett! Pretty cool!

The Spirit character poster for Scarlett Johansson’s Silken Floss has now been released and it is really cool. Her tagline reads: “On your knees then…” :biggrin: Check it and another newly released Sand Saref (Eva Mendes) poster in the gallery.

I also added a New York, I Love You teaser poster, which does not feature Scarlett.

According to the Superheroes-R-Us blog, Lionsgate has moved the release date of Frank Miller’s The Spirit up to December 25, 2008 – from the original January 16, 2009 date. If this is indeed true, we will have two Scarlett films to enjoy late this year; The Spirit and He’s Just Not That Into You (to be released October 24). And then, of course, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, set to premiere at Cannes this month.

The Spirit was featured at the New York Comic Convention yesterday. In result, a new teaser trailer and a couple of new posters have been released online. Unfortunately, the teaser does not feature Scarlett but you may still want to have a look at the MTV Movies Blog or YouTube as it certainly looks pretty cool! The posters are also available in the gallery but again, there’s no Scarlett to be seen in those. I hope they’ll eventually release one of her, like this one of Eva Mendes (seen on the left).

The folks over at Lionsgate have released the first official production stills of The Spirit, including one of Scarlett as Silken Floss, the character described as “a punk secretary and frigid vixen”. Apparently, the leaked unapproved photos of the film created quite an uproar online as many fans were disappointed in the look of them. I guess some did not realize that they are simply green screen on set and costume photos, not actual finalized stills. So the studio released these new images to showcase what the film will actually look like. In my opinion, Scarlett looks pretty damn cool here and I personally cannot wait to see The Spirit!

I’ve also added new stills from Vicky Cristina Barcelona and replaced one in high quality. Thanks to Mr.Harris for finding the one of Scarlett and Javier.

For all those who have asked – Lionsgate asked me to remove all of the Spirit production stills as they are unapproved images.

New York Comic Con (NYCC) today announced Lionsgate will be at its 2008 event promoting The Spirit, based on the classic comic book series created by Will Eisner and written for the screen and directed by Frank Miller.

At NYCC, production partners Lionsgate and Odd Lot Entertainment will present an exclusive first look at The Spirit on Saturday, April 19 in New York Comic Con’s IGN Theater, featuring the world premiere of the film’s teaser trailer. Miller and Mendes will be on hand to speak about their respective roles in the upcoming film, which is produced by Deborah Del Prete, Gigi Pritzker and Michael Uslan. Co-CEO of Odd Lot Entertainment Deborah Del Prete and Michael Uslan, President of Comic Book Movies, will also be speaking. MTV News Correspondent Kurt Loder will moderate the panel and the teaser trailer will debut to a global audience on MTV.com later that night in high definition, and on MTV the week of April 21. NYCC will also feature the debut of the film’s first teaser poster, which Miller and Mendes will sign in a formal autograph session scheduled for 5:00pm.

Fans of Will Eisner’s The Spirit, who can’t wait for the film adaptation being directed by comic legend Frank Miller, will be jumping up and down with anticipation for The Spirit: The Movie Visual Companion from Titan Books.

The volume will contain the full screenplay of the film, along with director’s commentary, interviews with the cast and crew, color photos and production art, hundreds of storyboards by Frank Miller, and an exclusive introduction by Frank Miller.

Will Eisner’s The Spirit opens January 16th, 2009, and stars Gabriel Macht, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Eva Mendes, Sarah Paulson, Dan Lauria, Stana Katic, Johnny Simmons, Louis Lombardi, Jamie King and Paz Vega.
