The Film Experience
9 August, 2006

Hello from the good ole rainy Scotland! Still no flat but I just had to come by to post this fabulous find!

One of my favorite websites, The Film Experience has been having a Scarlett Johansson week with lots of goss and chatter about our girl. Check out results of their poll here; the readers have voted Lost in Translation as Scarlett’s best performance with 51% – Match Point and Girl with a Pearl Earring follow. The blog also has awesome musings on Scarlett and her career. They even voted Scarlett-Fan.com as the best Scarlett Johansson website!

These photos are all of Scarlett celebrating Lost in Translation at various bashes, premieres, festivals. For thousands more (you heard me right) —or if Scarlett week had you all hot and bothered, visit Scarlett Fan. It’s a huge spiffy website. If all movie actors had websites this comprehensive the world would be a better, prettier, happier, more satisfying place.

I am blushing. Literally.

Filming for The Nanny Diaries Has Wrapped
20 June, 2006

People.Com reported on the wrap party Scarlett Johansson threw for the cast and crew of The Nanny Diaries at a private home she rented in Bridgehampton, N.Y. “They were all dancing up a storm until 2 a.m.,” a source tells us. The actress catered the event from local eatery Alison and the partygoers feasted on lobster, chicken and potato salad.

Napoleon and Betsy and Sound of Music
3 April, 2006

Apparently Napoleon and Betsy has stirred up some controversy in the press because of the fact that the movie is about a relationship between a 14-year old girl and Napoleon Bonaparte, her senior of 32 years. Bonaparte was befriended by English teen Betsy Balcombe, to be played by Johansson, when he was exiled to the South Atlantic island St. Helena in 1815. Although he was supposedly a kindly uncle figure to Balcombe, who lived there with her merchant father and siblings, director Benjamin Ross is keen to give their story a saucier slant. Historian Peter Hicks fumes, “It was a platonic relationship. It would be ridiculous to suggest anything else.”

But Ross has hit back, saying, “The facts are very interpretable. I’d be delighted to get historians jumping and down.” ( source )

Andrew Lloyd Webber recently revealed that he had decided to pull out of negotiations to get Scarlett Johansson to play Maria in the new West End stage production of The Sound of Music, because although she had been keen, her “people” were against the plan. ( source )
