Luc Besson is showing remarkable restraint by ruling out a sequel for this summer’s hit “Lucy,” but that will not stop every executive around town from throwing action scripts at the feet of Scarlett Johansson. The actress, who already has Marvel fans campaigning for a Black Widow spinoff, now has Warner Bros. offering her charge role in a long-in-the-works live action adaptation of a cult classic anime movie.
Deadline is reporting that Johansson has been offered $10 million to star as Major Motoko Kusanagi, the film’s “augmented-cybernetic human” lead character. As a person in the elite task force Section 9, Major Kusanagi faces terrorists and thugs on the cyber warfare front of a futuristic cyberpunk version of Japan. With lush visuals and a healthy dose of science fiction, Ghost In The Shell has the makings of a four quadrant hit.
Speaking of remakes, “Ain’t Them Bodies Saints” helmer David Lowery is gearing up “Pete’s Dragon” over at Disney and Robert Redford of all people is in early talks for the movie, according to THR. It’s yet another surprise move for Redford who also appeared in this year’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” but it will work better once you keep in mind that Lowery and Redford have another project cooking, the financial institution robber tale “The Old Man And The Gun.”
Scarlett Johansson and Miranda Lambert, LeAnn Rimes are teaming up to form a crew more dynamic than Johannson’s “The Avengers” character. As opposed to saving the planet, this trio has gone out to save homeless dogs all across America.
Lambert, Rimes and Johansson, together with Josh Duhamel, Kristen Bell, Fergie, Paula Abdul, Betty White and Kesha, is going to take part in “The Great American Dog-A-Thon” on Fox this Thanksgiving
“The Great American Dog-A-Thon” will air Thanksgiving night, Thursday, Nov. 27, on Fox from 8-10 p.m. ET/PT.
Scarlett Johansson is reportedly to starring in ‘Custom Of The Country’ Limited Series For Sony TV
According the news, Sony Pictures TV is combining, Scarlett Johansson for a limited series project that’s about to hit the market. Johansson is placed to star in and executive produce the eight-episode period series, from Charles Finch’s Pink Sands, which is based on Wharton’s 1913 novel The Custom Of The Country.

Custom Of The Country was identified as a serious matter of ambition is probably the most literary rock heroine Undine Spragg to be played by Johansson in her first TV role.
However, Julian Fellowes said that he was greatly inspired by the 1913 novel. He said :
“I felt this was my book; this was talking to me in a most extreme and immediate way, In Undine Spragg, Wharton has created an anti-heroine absolutely in the same rank as Becky Sharp, Scarlett O’Hara, or Lizzy Eustace,”
Scarlett’s Avengers co-star Robert Downey Jr wants a Black Widow movie to happen he told USA Today newspaper.
“I think that the interesting thing particularly after Guardians with Zoe [Saldana, or] even from the first ‘Iron Man’ where Pepper was kind of this really – to me the ‘Iron Man’ franchise would never have taken off without [Gwyneth] Paltrow.”
“There’s something about her that grounded the story. She’s not your typical lady in a superhero movie, and then by Iron Man 3 she’s swallowing serums and putting on suits and kicking [butt] and all that stuff. But it would be kind of more appropriate for a character that already was like a Black Widow [to lead a movie]. It just seems like whatever Scarlett does, people want to go see it.”
Scarlett Johansson’s ‘Lucy’ has brought Nearly $ 10 million over ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’. the sci-fi movie released in Russia on September 11, seven weeks after its release, the United States, earning $ 9.6 million during its opening weekend.
Lucy is the best movie of the weekend and the first biggest weekend of the eighth year in Russia.
