Scarlett, Woody & co spent yesterday filming scenes at the Barcelona harbor. It seems that Scarlett was in a great mood, smiling and waving at the paparazzi from the boat. I also updated the other on the set albums with many more pics and added DoubleT’s video from day one to the video archive.
For those who have been asking me about the future filming locations – I am sorry but I do not know. However, I have posted this thread at the forum so I recommend you keep your eyes peeled on that one if you’re in the area. I am sure that if any of the local forum members know any details, they will post it there.
Also, another reminder that I still do not have internet at home because of my recent move so I only update at the library when ever there is something new. That is why I have not added any of your contributions yet. I promise I’ll add them as soon as I get my internet back. 😉

– Woody Allen Spanish Project (2008)
As earlier reported, the filming of the Woody Allen Spanish Project (aka Midnight in Barcelona) began today and took place outside a restaurant in Paseo Joan de Borbon in Barceloneta, Barcelona. Scarlett appeared on the set around mid-day, wearing a beige shirt and denim coat with brown khaki pants. She was being filmed while her snapping pictures of the scenery.
The filming will take place for the total of seven weeks, with one week of work in Asturias and a day in New York, and will receive public aids from Barcelona’s Ministry of Culture.
Click here to view a video of Scarlett in action (courtesy of our Spanish reporter DoubleT). I’ve also updated the gallery with
12 79 HQs from the set.
For further details regarding the filming, please refer to the following articles in Spanish language: Terra.es, Cooperativa.cl and Eluniverso.com.
Just to let you know, Scarlett did not attend the Live Earth event yesterday unlike earlier speculated. She must have been busy preparing for the upcoming Woody Allen movie, which begins filming tomorrow. Here’s to hoping some on the set images will appear!
By the way, we have a new top affiliate site, Megan Fox Source, dedicated to Transformers star Megan Fox. We are always looking for new affiliates, both top and regular, so please apply here if you run a HQ site.
Woody Allen and Barcelona declared their affection for each other at a sweltering press conference on Monday with a phalanx of pols and security guards in attendance.
“I hope I can present Barcelona to the world as I see it, the same way I presented Manhattan to the world as I saw it with my eyes,†said Allen, dressed in a natty fly-fisherman hat, as he unveiled a few more details about his next pic, which shoots in Spain from July 9.
“I want to write a love letter to Barcelona and from Barcelona to the world,†he added, as much perhaps by way of diplomacy as clarification.
That affection is returned by Barcelona and Spain at large.
Standing next to him, Spain’s ebullient Culture Minister Carmen Calvo proved Allen’s closest fan, producing a fuchsia-colored abanico to profusely fan the director, before declaring that Allen “makes philosophy with cinema. He’s a brilliant example of what cinema represents in contemporary culture.â€
The little news that emerged from the press conference was that Patricia Clarkson, Kevin Dunn and Chris Messina have joined the cast.
Scarlett has now arrived in Barcelona, Spain and she was photographed strolling the streets of the beautiful and historical city and visiting its tourist sites today. She was photographed in New York City on Friday so she must have flown over to Spain very recently. The filming of the still untitled Woody Allen Spanish Project is set to begin on July 9.
I generally do not add candids in the gallery but since these are (indirectly) related to the movie and Scarlett is looking so happy and smiley there, I decided to make this exception. Besides, it has been a while since we’ve last seen her.
Thank you to DoubleT for the heads up!
Besides starting to film Woody Allen’s newest film next month, there has not been a whole lot going on with Scarlett Johansson recently, atleast not in the public eye. I assume she is currently cutting her first album and preparing for her new role.
Regarding recent magazine coverage, Scarlett was on the cover of You magazine (The Mail On Sunday) a week back with a great article regarding her recent trip to India. She’s also currently featured in the new issue of teen mag Bliss. Both of these are British magazines and we will have scans up shortly.
Here’s an excerpt from the You article, which mentions that Scarlett was approached by Al Gore to help in publicising next month’s Live Earth concert. So perhaps we’ll be seeing her there – unless she’ll already be filming in Spain.
She won’t be drawn on this possible film project, but she does share another message, from Al Gore. That’s former US vice president Al Gore, asking for Scarlett’s help in publicising Live Earth, July’s big Live Aid-style global concert to draw attention to climate change.
Last but not least, I should be back online within a week or two so look out for regular updates to resume soon. Meanwhile, I’ve updated the style quotes and beauty bag with a lot of new information. And check out the gallery for new L’Oreal and Louis Vuitton ads. Thanks so much to everyone who sent in these! Much appreciated.
According to France24.com, Woody Allen will begin filming his latest film on July 9. No word when Scarlett will be flying to Spain.
US director Woody Allen will begin filming his new, as yet untitled film, starring Scarlett Johansson, in the Spanish city of Barcelona on July 9, production society Mediapro said Thursday.
Joining Johansson will be English actress Rebecca Hall as well as Spanish stars Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem.
Some scenes will be directed in the northern Spanish region of Asturias, where Allen spent Tuesday in the regional capital Oviedo seeking out sites to film in through to late August.
“The region of Asturias is magnificent. I always wanted to come to Spain to work and now I have the chance,” Spanish news media quoted Allen as saying.
The 71-year-old Academy Award-winning director is widely admired in Spain, and Oviedo itself boasts a lifesize bronze statue of him. Allen first visited the city to accept the Asturias prize for art in 2002.
