We Bought A Zoo star Scarlett Johansson talks to Metro about the public’s fascination with her private life, and what it was like to finally work with Cameron Crowe.
How do you deal with the public’s obsession with your private life?
I don’t know how anybody handles that kind of stuff. I’m still figuring it out. My greatest fear would be to lose the ability to make an audience sympathise with the character I played because they felt they knew so much about me and they couldn’t shake it. I want them to be completely convinced by who I am playing, to get lost in it.
What was it like to finally work with Cameron Crowe on We Bought A Zoo? You had wanted to work with him for five years.
It was amazing. You leave the audition feeling like a million bucks, whether you got the role or not. You’ve tried everything a million different ways, discussing the depths of the character you want to develop. So to be able to do that over months was a beautiful thing.
Were you inspired by the real zookeeper behind this true story?
My character’s not based on anybody. I met so many handlers and trainers throughout the process. They don’t have friends; they don’t have families; they dedicate their entire lives to the job. Cameron got it right in that sense, when my character, Kelly, gives that dialogue; I think that was inspired by someone he’d spoken to.
The director of photography said you were not scared in the snake scene – so what scares you?
Cockroaches. I hate them. I have a weird childhood trauma from cockroaches. I could do most things I didn’t want to do but any kind of cockroach situation, even if meant the performance of a lifetime, I don’t think I could do it.
Do you feel like you had a childhood? Did you miss what other children had because you were working?
I had a relatively normal childhood. It wasn’t like I was on a TV show constantly and had to be home schooled. I worked consistently but it was never for more than a few months of the year. In many ways, I did things that most kids never had the opportunity to do. I was living a dream… I’m still living it.
I added a few missing photoshoots to the gallery today. First, I added 6 pics to the 2011 shoot of Marie Claire Magazine. Second, I added a beautiful shoot Scarlett did recently: the Vogue shoot in may 2012. This is the first shoot of 2012 I could find. The gallery layout was also made with this shoot.
Hopefully more will follow. Enjoy!
Thanks to Claudia at Lisa Edelstein.net, I was able to add scans of Scarlett in the Russian Cosmopolitan (February 2012) to the gallery. Check them out via the links below.

She was photographed last week Enjoying the attention of her well built bodyguard. And Scarlet Johansson is showing no signs of leaving her idyllic holiday yacht behind as she relaxes on the boat’s deck with her friends. The Avengers star stayed under the watchful gaze of her burly bodyguard, who took the opportunity to soak up some rays himself. He kept a close eye on her, joining her for a leisurely stroll on a beach before returning to the yacht. And he wasn’t the only one. One image shows two fisherman ogling the beauty as she steps down from the boat. No doubt her bodyguard was just behind, keeping check of their wandering eyes.
Scarlett even looked a little nervous when he wasn’t nearby, biting her nails and looking anxiously over her shoulder. She has got used to having him around at all times, the muscly hunk never off duty for a second. The actress’s burly sidekick was on hand with the soap as she hosed herself down after a dip in the water. Clearly he takes his job very seriously. Scarlett, 27, showed off her jaw-dropping curves as she washed herself after a dip in the water, appearing unselfconscious and very comfortable in his company. The pair were joined briefly by a couple of crew members, but were alone for the majority of the time Scarlett’s bodyguard appeared to be making himself useful by holding something which looked like soap while she showered- displaying an admirable work ethic.
The actress was seen languishing on the boat alongside her bodyguard with whom she put on a very tactile display as she sunbathed earlier in the day. Scarlett’s advertising executive boyfriend may be wishing he was there. It was Scarlett’s figure rather than the stunning Sicilian views that drew attention as she paraded her curves in a white string bikini. And her bodyguard clearly not wanting to be left out wore some rather form-fitting black trunks as he kept a watchful eye on her. Quite what he was expecting to encounter while at sea is anybody’s guess. But as they lay side by side on the deck, there was little space for anyone to get in between them. Laying out on a towel on the front deck of the vessel, Scarlett was the centre of attention in her white Bond-style two-piece. The Avengers star shielded her face from the sun with a visor and wore sunglasses over her eyes. The actress was joined by her hunky bodyguard and two female friends, and the group kept hydrated by sipping from water bottles. As they sped out to sea, the foursome snapped away with their cameras, taking in the breathtaking views.
Scarlett is currently staying in Sicily to attend Dolce & Gabbana’s first-ever couture collection presentation during Haute Couture Fashion Week this evening. The Lost In Translation star is one the spokesmodel’s for the fashion label’s cosmetics line. She has held the role since 2009.
Scarlett is on the cover of the June issue of F Magazine. I added scans thanks to Just Fab Celebs, thank you! Enjoy.

I changed a lot around the site today. I wasn’t able to access the Twitter accounts, which were made for the site, so I had to create a brand new one. It would be awesome if you’d follow the new account and be the first to know when new updates have arrived! Click the pic below to follow us.
Second, Scarlett Fan is now on Tumblr! If you have an account there, don’t forget to follow us there!
Also, I cleared tons of affiliates and I deleted the elite affiliates per accident. If you were one of them, please please contact me and I will add your site again!
She is the smouldering glamour puss of Hollywood, but Scarlett Johansson says that her good looks aren’t always the best asset. The actress insists that her appearance has occasionally impacted on her career, causing her to miss out on roles she coveted because she was thought of as ‘too sexy’.
Discussing the issue, the We Bought A Zoo star revealed: ‘That has happened to me before, yeah. That’s always an unfortunate thing to figure out. “Why can’t you see?!” For me, I would imagine casting someone, you would want to challenge yourself in some way. ‘It is so interesting to see actors transform. There are certainly plenty of times when I am definitely not sexy.’ Despite her complaint, the 27-year-old does take care of herself and says the secret to her looks are staying healthy, but not being too strict with herself when it comes to diet and exercise.
‘I live a relatively healthy lifestyle I think. Ish. I’m not overly strict. I like to go out and enjoy myself and drink a couple of glasses of wine and stay out late occasionally and eat a slice of cake. ‘I work out and eat well most of the time and try to get some rest. ‘[I eat] lots of kale. I try to stay away from meat and dairy and that.
Director Cameron Crowe was able to see past Scarlet’s famous curves and pout, and cast her as zookeeper Kelly in We Bought A Zoo, which is released on DVD this week.
‘It was amazing to be able to work with him,’ says Scarlet. ‘Any time we have ever done any work together has just been amazing. You leave the audition feeling like a million bucks whether you got the role or not: “I did work today that was hard and good”.
‘He makes you think. You’re thinking outside the box. You’re trying everything a million different ways; you’re discussing the depths of the character that you see that you want to develop. To finally be able to do that over months and build a character with him was great. It was a beautiful thing.’Scarlet had to get up close and personal with a number of animals, from tigers to snakes, during filming of We Bought A Zoo. But she reveals that there is only one that makes her squeamish.
‘Cockroaches. I hate them. I have a weird childhood trauma from cockroaches. I can’t stand them. Seriously. I could pretty much do most things that I didn’t want to do but any kind of cockroach situation, even if meant kind of the performance of a lifetime I don’t think I could do it. I’d be paralyzed by them. Tigers and lions are majestic. Cockroaches? No way.’ She also worked with children in the film, and says that she wouldn’t mind having some of her own in the future. ‘Someday it would be nice,’ Scarlet says. Not any time soon. It would be nice to have a couple of kids running around.
Scarlett attended the presentation of Dolce & Gabbana couture line held in the Antique Theatre in Toarmina, Italy on July 9th. I added 3 pics, which are kinda blurry. Scarlett can be recognized by her white skirt!

She will soon have three superhero movies under her belt so it’s no wonder film producers are keen to get her experience on board for a fourth.
Scarlett Johansson has reportedly been offered £13million to star in the sequel to Avengers Assemble. The monumental fee will make the 27-year-old the highest paid female actor of all time. Scarlett, who plays the role of Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow, is being tempted to star as the character for the third time in Avengers 2. The huge fee would eclipse the £12.2million paid to Angelina Jolie for her role in The Tourist, back in 2010. Avengers Assemble became the third highest grossing movie in history by taking £936 million at the box office, and Scarlett is seen as an integral part of its success. A source told The Sun newspaper: ‘Scarlett is the hottest star in Hollywood and her inclusion in the sequel is a must. ‘Producers think that as the only lead woman in the film male fans have found her a key ingredient – both for sex and story appeal. She is loved by critics too.’
Johansson is the only female member of the Avengers.
