If you have been anxiously awaiting another dose of hunky superheroes or the gorgeous Scarlett Johanson…well, you’re going to have to wait a good while longer. But at least now you can know just how long. Disney has just confirmed that the “Avengers” sequel has gotten a release date: May 1, 2015.
The Walt Disney Studios has announced a release date for Marvel Studios’ sequel to the biggest Super Hero blockbuster and third highest grossing film of all time, Marvel’s The Avengers. Joss Whedon returns to write and direct the UNTITLED MARVEL’S AVENGERS SEQUEL set for release May 1, 2015.
An industry insider had hinted earlier to MTV’s Kara Warner that this was a possible date, saying, “It looks like the release date might be May 1, 2015, but that can change depending on people’s schedules.
“The beauty of ‘The Avengers’ is that you’ve got so many people in this that even during the shoot if someone has to do another film they can just focus on [other characters].”
Why wait so long, you might ask? Well, mainly because the franchise has to film all of the other sequels featuring the Avengers heroes it has in the works first, such as “Iron Man 3″ (May 2013), “Thor 2″ (November 2013), and “Captain America 2″ (April 2014).
Director and writer Joss Whedon will be returning for “The Avengers 2,” though most other details have yet to be confirmed.

The 31-year-old star directs the ‘Avengers Assemble’ beauty in the forthcoming movie – which tells the story of the titular character’s porn addiction and how he attempts to become less selfish – and he doesn’t think people will have ever seen her do ”anything like this before”.
Speaking at the European premiere of ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ in London’s Leicester Square, he told BANG Showbiz: ”We just finished shooting it and when I get back from doing this tour then I’ll begin cutting it.
”Scarlett is fantastic in the movie, you’ve never seen her do anything like this before. She’s got a whole other character – her voice, her nails, everything.”
She will soon have three superhero movies under her belt so it’s no wonder film producers are keen to get her experience on board for a fourth.
Scarlett Johansson has reportedly been offered £13million to star in the sequel to Avengers Assemble. The monumental fee will make the 27-year-old the highest paid female actor of all time. Scarlett, who plays the role of Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow, is being tempted to star as the character for the third time in Avengers 2. The huge fee would eclipse the £12.2million paid to Angelina Jolie for her role in The Tourist, back in 2010. Avengers Assemble became the third highest grossing movie in history by taking £936 million at the box office, and Scarlett is seen as an integral part of its success. A source told The Sun newspaper: ‘Scarlett is the hottest star in Hollywood and her inclusion in the sequel is a must. ‘Producers think that as the only lead woman in the film male fans have found her a key ingredient – both for sex and story appeal. She is loved by critics too.’
Johansson is the only female member of the Avengers.

Spotted trying to make a quick dash from paparazzi, Scarlett Johansson was seen leaving the Los Angeles, CA set of “Don Jon’s Addiction” on Tuesday (June 19).
The blonde bombshell made a ran while holding up an an umbrella looking beautiful in black skinny jeans and a red blazer as she headed into her awaiting car.

And since film rights were recently obtained by Universal Pictures, there have been several rumours swirling about who will take on the cinematic version of E.L James racy novel Fifty Shades Of Grey.
Now Scarlett Johansson is the latest star to be named as a possibility to play the book’s female protagonist Anastasia Steele.

She’s a part of the star-studded “Avengers” cast that boasts one of the biggest box office money makers ever to grace the big screen, so it seems fitting to find Scarlett Johansson featured in the July 2012 issue of Total Film magazine.
The 27-year-old actress showed off her gorgeous smile in article beginning shot while chatting with the cinema buff-friendly publication about everything from her black widow character and new role in “Psycho” to her status as a sex symbol as she grows older.
Highlights from Miss Johansson’s interview are as follows.
On how she’d measure up to Black Widow:
“she could definitely kick my a**, that’s for sure. She has to remain lukewarm, in a sense. To keep a distance and not make decisions based on her emotions. I always make decisions based on my emotions. I’m not very practical that way. I think I’m hypersensitive and I think I use it for my job, so there are certainly a lot of differences there.”On the films that gained her the most fans:
“When I was growing up, I had the core fans of ‘Ghost World’, who were really into that, and the other independent stuff I was doing. And that was cool. Then after ‘Lost In Translation’ it really started…”On what made her want to play Black widow in the first place:
“I really loved the first ‘Ironman’. It reinvented that genre. I was never a big comic book fan. It was really the that film that I found to be very exciting. And ‘Ironman 2′, it was the first time I’ve ever been in a big blockbuster that did well, so that was nice.”On being dubbed a sex symbol:
“I never wanted to be a sex symbol. I wanted to be a character actor. Those are the actors I often mostly admire. But I think women that are curvy can be pigeonholed in that bombshell thing. I never think of my characters that way. What can you do about it? As I get older, I think I’m seeing more multifaceted roles. I’m past the ingenue phase, which I’m very thankful for, but I’m happy is over.”On playing Janet Leigh opposite Anthony Hopkins in ‘Psycho’:
“I’m very excited to play her. There was never really an actor I wanted for portray or do a bio of but I do love Janet Leigh. I’ve always loved her. She was such a good actor and sexy. But it never got in the way of her work. She was spunky and her relationship with Hitchcock was famously one of great admiration and affection between them.”
