Scarlett Johansson might be expecting her first child, but Black Widow won’t be showing any signs of pregnancy.
The gorgeous star is said due to give birth to her and Roman Dauriac’s baby in August, which threw up a few issues for the filming of Avengers: Winter Soldier.
However, The Sun reports that Scarlett will be able to perform as she is, with her growing baby bump being edited out in post-production.
According to the newspaper, the actress will be wearing a high-tech suit with a green band around her waist which will allow the special effects team to remove any signs of her pregnancy.
Meanwhile, it is said that director Joss Whedon has no intention of letting her off easily, still expecting her to be part of the movie’s fight scenes.
Marvel Studios President of Production Kevin Feige seemingly confirmed Scarlett’s maternity in an interview about the film last month and suggesting everything will still go to plan.
Speaking about the mum-to-be last month, he said: “Well my first reaction was I was very happy for her and very excited for her.
“My second reaction was we’ve got to move some pieces on the chess board around schedule-wise. But we didn’t change the script at all, which is sort of the most important things for us in terms of the storyline.”
Taking a spin on the beloved animated film, Disney is working on an adaptation of “The Jungle Book” directed by Jon Favreau. And it appears the studio is eyeing some heavy hitters, as The Hollywood Reporter stated Scarlett Johansson and Lupita Nyong’o are in the middle of negotiations to join confirmed cast member Idris Elba.
According to reports, the live-action/GC hybrid film will stars Nyong’o as Rakcha, a mother wolf who adopts Mowgli, with Johansson portraying the voice of Kaa, the python who hypnotizes animals and eats them.
Idris is slated to portray Shere Khan, the villainous tiger.
“The Jungle Book” has a release date set for October 9, 2015. Stay linked to GossipCenter for more details on the film.
Boasting a bankable Hollywood star in a decidedly unconventional narrative, Jonathan Glazer’s stunning Under The Skin starring Scarlett Johansson (who also stars in this weekend’s fellow opener Captain America 2) proved a winning mix in the Specialty Box Office for distributor A24 in its opening weekend. The film, Glazer’s first in 10 years, grossed a robust $140K in four L.A. and NYC theaters. That comes in at a $35K screen average, easily the biggest since the The Grand Budapest Hotel‘s bombshell $202K PTA when it opened March 9. Scarlett Johansson Under the SkinUnder The Skin‘s initial numbers also bode well for A24, which opened in 2012 and had a streak of box office successes over last year, including Harmony Korine’s Spring Breakers, which had an $87,667 PTA when it opened last March ($14.1M cume), The Spectacular Now ($49,354 PTA in 4 theaters last August and a $6.85M cume), The Bling Ring ($42,879 PTA in 5 theaters last June and a $5.8M cume) and Ginger & Rosa ($14,279 PTA in 3 theaters in March 2012, $1M cume).
Said A24 this weekend: “[Under The Skin] opened to rave reviews and sold out shows in New York and Los Angeles this weekend. This unique cinematic event is second only to The Grand Budapest Hotel as the highest limited specialized film opening of the year. Scarlett Johannson, who stars in both Under The Skin and the Captain America sequel, was a box office star this weekend dominating the box office with Captain America and Under The Skin having the highest per screen average in the country.”
A24 noted that the title, which it acquired out of Toronto last year, is “an art movie that people are embracing.” A spokesperson told me Sunday that they “couldn’t sell more tickets” at its showing in New York’s Union Square. The film is also attracting a “younger audience.” Glazer traveled to the U.S. for two weeks in the lead up to its release here promoting the film. He participated in Q&A in Union Square this weekend. Under The Skin will expand to about 20 locations next week and will head to the top 50 markets by April 25.
Access Hollywood just post the first look at Scarlett’s new movie Chef trailer. The full trailer will be out tomorrow so look back for that.
You know what the best thing is about this Friday (April 4)? We’re getting a double helping of Scarlett Johansson in movie theaters — as Black Widow in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” and as an alien seductress who likes to eat her men whole in “Under the Skin.”
While “Under the Skin” is definitely worth checking out, it may be a little hard to find. So most of us will watch Scarlett take her third turn as super-agent Natasha Romanoff in “Captain America,” where — alongside Cap (Chris Evans), the Falcon (Anthony Mackie), and Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) — she hunts down a lethal assassin and uncovers a conspiracy to bring down the intelligence agency S.H.I.E.L.D.
The movie reunites Scarlett with Robert Redford, who plays the head of S.H.I.E.L.D. and who directed and starred with the then-12-year-old actress in “The Horse Whisperer.” We sat down with the lovely Ms. Johansson (who is currently expecting her first child) to talk about that, what happens to the Widow in the next “Avengers” movie, and what Natasha does on her days off.
Moviefone: It’s great to see watch Black Widow evolve over the course of three movies. Did you know what was planned from the start?
Scarlett Johansson: I mean, that was the intention, of course, when I signed up for “Iron Man 2.” The hope was that the audience would respond to my version of the Widow Natasha and want to see more. Because, I mean, I had a wonderful time doing it but you just sort of got to be introduced to the character. And I think the idea of revealing her true identity at the end was in the hopes that people would want to kind of take that and run with it. Of course, I had a really fun, playful sequence in the end there.
