I’ve updated the gallery with a couple of new stills from Vicky Cristina Barcelona and a new one from The Spirit, which comes from Entertainment Weekly’s August 29th issue, the fall movie preview special. Big thanks to our forum members and Mycah for their contributions!
The press archive has also been updated with four new articles.
“I would do craft service [movie catering] for Woody. I would do anything for him. He is so much fun to work with because, you know, we’re friends, and it’s like I come into work every day and you’re working with people that you love, and you know, we have almost a silent communication between us.”
“You know we’re going into this really intimate relationship, all three of us, and we all fell so easily into that pattern. Penelope and Javier are both the sweetest. Of course, every woman on the side is charmed by Javier. He’s so charismatic … and Penelope’s like this little firecracker. So the three of us just had such a wonderful time and really just enjoyed the scenes that we had together because we were able to improvise. We were able to really have an interesting dynamic between us.”
Since I am having trouble converting videos and keeping the video archive up-to-date, I thought I’d check to see if there’s anyone out there who’d like to join Scarlett-Fan.com as the video staffer. Please note that I love running the site and I am, bluntly put, a shameless perfectionist so if I do not find a person who has a similar work ethic as I do, I will rather just continue to manage the videos by myself to the extend that I am able to.
I am looking for someone reliable who is a big fan of Scarlett Johansson and has the time to update the video archive whenever there is new videos on her. So you must have the resources to search, download, convert and edit flash video to WMV. This takes quite a lot of time and energy. Obviously, you must know how to upload files and create graphics for the thumbnails. You also must know how to manage a Coppermine based gallery.
If you are interested in becoming Scarlett-Fan.com‘s new video staffer, please drop me a line at firstname.lastname@example.org and tell me a little bit about yourself. Thanks in advance!
Woody Allen’s Vicky Cristina Barcelona hits North American cinemas today. Be sure to go and see it and tell us what you thought of the film and Scarlett’s performance as Cristina. I have a wait a week myself to see it so I’d love to hear some comments from the fans.
As many of you already noticed, I added the photo coverage of Scarlett’s appearance on Tonight Show with Jay Leno earlier this week. After some technical difficulties, I was finally able to upload the video today. It is a lengthy interview and, as usual, Scarlett handles herself with so much class – even when it comes to some rather strange questions. Loyal fan Phil also sent in a video of Scarlett’s appearance on The Early Show from August 12. I’ve added it and made some screencaps. Happy downloading!
Some of you noticed the site offering a competition to win a ‘threesome’ with Scarlett Johansson to promote Vicky Cristina Barcelona. Scarlett rep has informed me that the website is not Scarlett’s and they are working on getting it removed.
You may be interested in knowing that Amazon writer Dirk Blackman operates a blog and he has mentioned the Scarlett movie a couple of times already. Here’s one interesting write up:
We seem to tackle subjects like that – we wrote a script about Amazons for Scarlett Johansson. Before they read it, everyone heard about it and thought – “Amazons… girls in skimpy outfits playing at swords. Sounds dumb.” But we played it straight and wrote something along the lines of Seven Samurai. Changed a lot of minds. In fact, Lion’s Gate just picked up the script and are moving forward on it aggressively.
Dirk Blackman and Howard McCain are trying to corner the market on sword-swinging fantasy adventures.
Blackman and McCain have been hired to rework the script for Conan, as in the barbarian, for Lionsgate. And the writing team’s action-adventure screenplay Amazon, an epic about female warriors to which Scarlett Johansson has been attached, is sailing out of turnaround toward Lionsgate as well, with Neal Moritz and his Original Film banner coming on to produce once the deal is completed.
Director searches are under way for both.

Here are a couple of interesting quotes from the articles:
“I’m productive, I think, in other aspects of my life, my career maybe. I don’t know. I think that I want to work not just to work. I want to feel like there’s a purpose behind it. It’s hard to find good roles for young women. They don’t come along that often. It’s a kind of weird age group. I’m twenty three and it’s like I’m a young woman, quite a young woman, but I’m at a certain kind of transient phase in my life and things are changing for me. Obviously, I’m growing up. I think it’s a hard time. There are only so many parts available for that. Like I said too, I’ve been focusing on other things that I’ve been excited about.”
“Any time someone makes a huge generalization about you you’re just like, ‘Okay. I guess so.’ But I certainly work with certain non-governmental organizations that I work hard for and I try to use whatever interest that people might have in me to shine the spotlight on these certain causes that I’ve researched and believe in and seen firsthand work. I try to focus on those things that I’m passionate about. I’m hard to distract. It’s probably a good quality and a bad quality, but when I’m focused I’m focused on something.”
