The 9.20 minute Director’s Cut of the video premiered online on 9th February 2007 and the official version debuted on TV during the Grammy Awards pre-show coverage on MTV on 11th February 2007.

The video sees Scarlett as a woman who works at a club as a dancer. She meets Justin’s character and the attraction is immediate and mutual. They start a passionate affair and the man falls head over heels for her and is ready to give her his name… Until she cheats on him with his friend. After a car chase sequence Scarlett’s character is killed in an accident and she leaves behind a mourning Timberlake.

The video sees Johansson’s character in pastiche of home movie footage of her traveling around the US as her lover takes 8mm home movies of her. The video has a lovely, dreamy quality to it. It is considered a favorite among Scarlett fans.

The video for Truman’s Girl With A Pearl was filmed sometime in 2004. It was directed by Meiert Avis and it stars Scarlett Johansson, as 21st-century girl inspired by 17th-century Dutch art.

For Scarlett Johansson’s 2004 film Girl With A Pearl Earring she appeared in the music video by Truman, the song, however, is nowhere to be found in the movie or in the score. The song was used as a marketing scheme, “It seemed like a great way to bring a youthful demographic to what is essentially an art-house film,” said Lions Gate. Studio exec Michael Burn who received a CD of Truman’s music from friends and asked him to contribute a track. Truman had already penned ”Pearl,” having been inspired by the novel on which the movie is based. Johansson liked the song so much, she agreed to be in the video.
